Mourning Light Divination is a place for many folx at different stages in their lives. Those who are grieving, those who are looking to gain intuitive insight, seeking spiritual support, help with end of life planning, or those who are simply searching for a brave space to discuss their feelings about death - this is a safe place to land.
Run by a spiritual death practitioner, Hannah assists members by providing awareness and comfort to oneβs transitions, life cycles, and periods of change through spiritual, creative, and honest work. We all go through many different and unique death & rebirth cycles though out our lives - these cycles can be metaphorical or physical in nature. It is when we acknowledge and honor them that we can understand our needs with clarity and gain perspective to the present moment.
Meet Hannah Haddadi
Hannah is a death witch, trained death doula, community herbalist, spoken word poet, writer, and owner of business Mourning Light Divination. Hannah combines their background, lived experiences, Persian and Swedish/German/English ancestry, and path in magic and divination to connect with their work in ritual, transformation, death, and rebirth.
Spiritual Journey with Sacred Death
Hi! Iβm Hannah, a Persian Death Witch & Spiritual Practitioner based in Colorado. I believe that Death is an energy, an entity, an event, a deity, and so much more beyond our human understanding. My journey with Sacred Death started when I was a baby. As a premature baby, I wavered between life and death seven weeks before my due date when my mother had to get an emergency c-section. Thanks to modern medicine and the love in that hospital, I survived as a one pound baby. As I got older, my comfortability with death and the dead grew. I have often felt as though my choice to live was taken from me and because of my birth, I have always felt that I existed in two worlds: this earthly plane and the spirit/spiritual one. Balancing the two has never been easy for me, but it has given me unique experiences and gifts that I cherish.
As a child, I remember the dead coming to talk to me, trying to get my attention in dreams, mirrors, and in dark spaces. I was terrified of it all then but as an adult, I have come to appreciate and welcome it. While navigating adulthood, I felt that I finally found my own spiritual beliefs and when I did, my life started to come together in ways I hadnβt imagined before - experiences started making sense as not singular events but as pieces to the whole. It was then when I went to London to study Norse Shamanism that I met my Devotee and realized I had been meant to do Death Work this entire time. I had my βcoming into witchdomβ a few years prior and started the quest for knowledge - knowledge to understand my craft and what it meant to be a Witch and a Spiritual Worker. It felt like the greatest coming home. To myself, my ancestors, my guides, and this entire universe that had been waiting for me to own my truth and my power.
Teachers, &Training
I graduated from Metropolitan State University with a degree in Integrative Health and Human services. I believe in the importance of integrating oneβs physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health into daily life. My thesis project in MSU Honors was on the need for access to art therapy for children and adolescents of all ages in their daily lives. I myself have found profound healing within the arena of art expression, particularly within own and speaking my truth through performance, spoken word poetry, and teaching.
I spent 5+ years working at Apothecary Tincture, a local haven for healing in the Denver Metro Area. I learned herbalism and pharmacology at MSU Denver and also through my time working at this apothecary. I began teaching here and have now been teaching for over 7 years. At Apothecary Tincture I also received copious amounts of education about & around spirituality, shamanistic practices within my lineage, soul retrievals, dismemberments, witchcraft, and so much more while working with and alongside with Kristin Schuch, Marian Rose, Rebekah Adams, Rachel Jensen, and other brilliant and gifted spiritual workers, witches, herbalists, and wise women. Within MLD and my own personal spiritual practice, I continue to work with plants and herbs physically and spiritually. I believe that plants, the natural world, and sacred death are the ultimate teachers and mentors we will ever have in this life.
My Norse & Swedish teacher, Imelda Almqvist, taught me so much magic regarding Norse Shamanistic & Magical Practices. I met my devotee, Hel, Norse Queen of the Underworld during my work with her, learned rune magic and magician-ship, experienced being a Volva, and so much more. My knowledge continues to expand in this realm as I continue my studies and my life-long work with Hel.
I have also worked with Renee Shesso in death work and midwifing practices. In 2022, I completed my End of Life Death Doula Training with Alua Arthur of Going With Grace. A mentor of mine, Dia Nunez {Rest In Power} also has had a profound impact on my work, my career, my knowledge and craft. She taught me magic, death work, root work, helped me understand root work in my own lineage, the importance of astrology, and so much more. She was and continues to be my cheerleader, even in death.
Lineage & Spirituality
I have been learning my craft for over a decade now. My ancestry is Persian, Swedish, German, and English. I come from hard working farmers, mystics, witches, root workers, famous palm readers, tailors and street fighters, tea leaf readers, and people who have fought for what they believe in no matter what the cost. My ancestral practice is key to my spirituality, craft, and my lifeβs work. I lean on my ancestors and learn from them everyday. I believe that when we live out our most authentic lives and become our truest selves, we help to heal our lineage past, present, and future. We are the embodiment of what our ancestors have done, tried to do, didnβt get to do, and much more.
My spirituality is a blend of witchcraft, deathcraft, and embodiment. I work with my ancestors, beloved dead, deities, guides, sacred death, past/present/future versions of myself, animal and plant allies, and many more beings in my ethereal spiritual team. They help guide and create my work in MLD with me, always.
